BREAKING THE "SILO" MENTALITY
Brief Description
Often, when a team grows bigger and things to handle grow significantly, more people need to come in and smaller units within the team with different function and focus area created. As people in the units get busy with work and their own problems, gaps begin to appear and after a while, things do not seem to appear smooth anymore. In some extreme cases, people within the units are so focused on their own unit that they forget there are bigger organizational goals to work towards. In other words, they start to work against each other instead of working together to achieve a common purpose. This breakdown often causes disruptions, tensed working environment and unless it is managed, will soon result in poor working conditions and eventually, the results will give way.
