FROM SUPERVISOR TO MANAGER
Brief Description
Internal promotion has been proven as an effective retention strategy but in many cases, supervisors who are promoted to managers do not become good or successful managers. Through their tenure as supervisors, many have picked up some “bad habits” from existing managers, thinking that they are the “right” thing to do and carry them through in their new role. Thus, it is very crucial that these soon-to-be managers or the newly-promoted ones understand what they need to do and be good at in order to become effective managers. With this awareness of the critical concepts and tools available coupled with good use of same, they would have a far better chance in managing effectively. This will enable them to deliver/ sustain the results required, continue contributing to the goals of the organization and do not become a reason for a good employee to leave!
